Derek Jeter’s Last All Star Game: Why it was Perfect

Farewell Captain.
Farewell Captain.

Derek Jeter’s final All Star Game last night was nothing short of perfection. He even shut up a heckler.

The 40 year old shortstop from Kalamazoo, Michigan went out in a blaze of glory as he went 2-2 with a run scored in the game. That wasn’t the best part of his night. Before his first at bat of the game, he received a extended standing ovation from the fans at Target Field. Ironically enough in his first at bat, there was a heckler who chanted the word “OVERRATED” during the FOX broadcast. In typical Jeter fashion, he laced a double down the right field line, shutting up the heckler.

Just another day in the office of Jeter who has a career batting average of .440 in the midsummer classic.

Thank you Derek Jeter for the memories. Now the countdown truly begins for his last game.
