The NFC West is in the spotlight today. The NFC West has produced the last two teams who represented the NFC in the Super Bowl (San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks.) The Seahawks, who dismantled the Denver Broncos in the Super Bowl, is poised to make another run at the Vince Lombardi trophy. Here is a preview and prediction of the NFC West:
Seattle Seahawks: The Seahawks are the world champions and they have gotten even better this season. All-pro DBs Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas are now signed through 2018, while defensive tackles Earl Bennett and Tony McDaniel returns as well. They did lose Wide Receiver Golden Tate to the Detroit Lions but they are not losing sleep over losing him. Can the Seahawks repeat? Can Russell Wilson jump from a quarterback to a elite NFL quarterback?
2014 Record: 12-4 Wins the NFC West
San Francisco 49ers– The 49ers are coming off a great season going 12-4. Also Colin Kapernick is one of the richest quarterbacks in the NFL. He signed a $126 million dollar deal. The 49ers have suffered a tremendous amount of injuries in training camp especially in the running back position. The 49ers resigned Anquan Boldwin to a new contract and traded for Stevie Johnson who gives Kapernick another deep threat down the field. Can Kapernick live up to his $126 million dollar contract deal? Will their new stadium give them luck? Can the 49ers dethrone the Super Bowl champs? Safe to say its the best rivalry in the NFL as both teams hate each other. Get your popcorn ready!
2014 Record: 11-5, Second in the NFC West
Arizona Cardinals– The Arizona Cardinals shocked the NFL world last year by going 10-6 in the division and narrowing missing the playoffs. The Cardinals actually beaten the Super Bowl champs in Seattle to break their 14 game home winning streak. This offseason the Cardinals have gotten better. They have acquired former Steeler Larry Foote to boost up the defense. They also signed former Miami Dolphin and Carolina Panther Ted Ginn Jr to give the Cardinals another deep threat down the field alongside Larry Fitzgerald. Can the Cardinals get one more great season out of Carson Palmer or will fourth round pick Logan Thomas gets his shot at stardom? The most important question is will Larry Fitzgerald stay a Cardinal this season?
2014 Record: 11-5 Tied with the 49ers but finishes third due to tie breaking scenarios
St Louis Rams– The Rams last season was very inconsistent going 7-9 which is very understandable considering they are a young team. The Rams made history this past offseason by drafting Michael Sam, the first gay professional athlete to play in the NFL. Drafted with the 249 pick in the 2014 draft, can this former SEC Defensive Player of the year play like one? The Rams have acquired former Titan Wide Receiver Kenny Britt. Britt has a lot of talent but always gets in trouble with law enforcements. Can he produce? Also the most important question: Can Sam Bradford stay healthy?
2014 Record: 8-8, last in the NFC West
