It wasn’t supposed to happen. Not this way. Not for a 10 win team.
Just a week ago, the New York Jets defeated the Super Bowl champs New England Patriots after a mental slip-up by special teamer Matt Slater. Jets fans were partying like it was 1969. We was going to the playoffs.
Then last Sunday happened. The Jets fell on their faces and lost the opportunity to play the Bengals in the Wild Card round. To make things even worse, former Jets coach Rex Ryan was the one responsible for booting them out of the playoffs.
Typical same old Jets.
In a season filled of ups and downs, the Jets have proved many of the doubters wrong. With the resurgence of journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick and wide receiver Brandon Marshall, Jets fans are getting the offense they finally deserve. The defense done it’s job as well.
The real MVP of the Jets? Ik Enemkpali who punched the face of then starter Geno Smith over a $600 plane ticket. I can’t help but wonder what would happen if that punch was never thrown?
With a tough defense and a great offense, the Jets have build a foundation in which they can make it to the Super Bowl in the coming years. Todd Bowles has done a remarkable job in turning the culture around.
Perhaps it is the Jets time for them to take over New York. Maybe they are the ones that can wrestle the Patriots for the AFC East crown one day.
It wasn’t supposed to happen this way but in life we learn from our mistakes.
The Jets will learn from this and come back stronger. But for now, its the same old Jets.
