In one month’s time, the MLB All-Star Game will emanate from Nationals Park in Washington D.C and it looks like a lot of young stars will make the midsummer classic. With that in mind, here are my lineup projections for the American League:
American League All-Stars:
Catcher– Gary Sanchez, Yankees. He easily overtook Royals catcher Salvador Perez as the best catcher in the league and will be an All-Star for the first time in his career.
1B– Jose Abreu, White Sox. First base in the American League has been a disaster. Abreu and Mitch Moreland are statically the only two first basemen that are having a great year. This is basically a random pick.
2B– Jose Altuve, Astros. He is the best second baseman in the league and is the reigning American League MVP.
3B–Jose Ramirez, Indians. In a league where this position is loaded, he is ahead of the pack.
SS– Carlos Correa, Astros. The best shortstop in the American League.
OF–Aaron Judge, Yankees. Easy call.
OF–Mike Trout, Angels. Another easy call.
OF–Mookie Betts, Red Sox. The front-runner for AL MVP and a shoe-in to make the All-Star game.
DH–J.D. Martinez, Red Sox. Might be him or Shohei Ohtani in the final vote. Should be interesting.
SP– Justin Verlander, Astros. The best pitcher in the American League.
